Privacy

We don't track you. Here's the detail.

FediMedia was built by people tired of being the product. This page explains, plainly, what we collect, why, and what we will never do.

The short version: no third-party trackers, no ad cookies, no fingerprinting, no cross-site pixels, no data brokers, and no personal profiles. Target is contextual — region, language, topic — never a person.

What we never do

  • We do not place advertising cookies on your device.
  • We do not fingerprint your browser or device.
  • We do not follow you across other websites or apps.
  • We do not build a profile of you as an individual.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade personal data to anyone.
  • We do not infer sensitive characteristics (health, politics, sexuality, religion).

What we do collect

Account information

If you register (as an advertiser or node operator), we store your name, email and a securely hashed password. That's how we let you sign in.

Campaign and node data

The campaigns, Boosts, targeting and budgets you create, and the nodes you register — needed to run the Service and pay out correctly.

Verification and follow records

When a follow is verified, we store the target account and an anonymous, hashed identifier of the follower so the same follow can never be paid twice. This is not linked to any browsing profile.

Technical data for fraud prevention

At the moment an ad is requested or a click is recorded, we may log the IP address and user agent to detect abuse (rate limiting, click farms, bots). This is used for security, not to profile users for advertising.

Anonymous, aggregate analytics

Counts of follows, clicks and campaign performance — aggregated. No individual is singled out.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not embed third-party trackers.

Legal basis and your rights

We process personal data in accordance with the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where applicable, the EU/UK GDPR. Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Data retention

We keep account and financial records for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal, tax and anti-fraud obligations. Fraud-prevention logs are retained only as long as necessary for security purposes.

Children

The Service is not directed at children and is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
